Reach For The Skycaddie!
THE PGA EuroPro Tour have signed a long-term agreement with Skycaddie Europe, giving players the use of state-of-the-art handheld GPS systems on the world's leading developmental tour in 2005 and 2006.
The Skycaddie system allows players to pinpoint their exact position on each hole using a 4.8oz handset, which utilizes precise, GPS mapped plans of the courses.
The Skycaddie, which is around the size of an average mobile phone and has a battery life of over ten hours, also has a patented 'intelligreen' feature, which allows the player to see the front, back and centre of the green from any position.
"Skycaddie Europe is delighted to become the Official Range Finder of the PGA EuroPro Tour," said Skycaddie Europe Sales and Marketing Director Jackie Hitchcock.
"We are keen to see the tour develop with this outstanding range finder, which will allow players to know not only distances to greens, but how far it is to reach or carry a hazard such as a bunker or water.
"Skycaddie is already used on an equivalent tour in the USA and we are certain that the players on the PGA EuroPro Tour will be able to take advantage of the benefits of the Skycaddie.
"The European Tour has caddies and extensive yardage books and the players never hit a shot without knowing the exact distance.
"The Skycaddie will give players on the PGA EuroPro Tour all the detailed information that enables a player to play the way the course was designed to be played. Along with the players regular yardage booklets, the Skycaddie will give them active GPS wherever they are on the course."
Skycaddie Europe will also present the players who qualify for November's Tour Championship with a complimentary handset for use on the 2006 PGA EuroPro Tour.
"I am delighted to welcome Skycaddie Europe to our expanding team of partners," said PGA EuroPro Tour Managing Director Eddie Hearn.
"Skycaddie is a revolutionary product that will become a vital part of the golf game in years to come and will give our members the opportunity to strive for perfection en route to their dreams."
