Q:
Replacing the Battery
Answer: The SkyCaddie's battery is custom-designed for the SkyCaddie and is only available from SkyGolf. You may purchase a replacement battery with detailed installation instructions through the SkyGolf website. Click here for purchasing information.
You can replace the SkyCaddie's battery on your own, but we encourage you to contact our technical support department before you attempt this procedure to avoid damage to your SkyCaddie. Replacing the battery does require that the three screws be removed from the back of the case; however, no tools are required to remove the old battery or install the new one.
Warning! Use only batteries supplied by SkyGolf to operate your SkyCaddie; use of non-authorized batteries can void your product warranty. Your SkyCaddie may not operate properly or can be severely damaged by using incorrect batteries.
Removal:
- Remove the three recessed screws from the back using a small Phillips screwdriver.
- Gently open the rubber plugs of both ports on the right of the SkyCaddie.
- Place the SkyCaddie in the palm of your hand with the screen facing down, antenna facing away from you. With your free hand, depress the button at the bottom of the device with your thumb while slowly pulling down on the front half of the SkyCaddie.
- Place the bottom half (the side with the battery) on a flat surface with the belt clip button facing down. The battery is held in place by a plastic bar that snaps into place underneath the screw post on the right side. No tools are required for battery replacement or to release the plastic bar.
The bar will not release from the left side. Do not use a screwdriver. Gently press up on the right side of the plastic bar until it unsnaps from the right latching post (i.e. pull up on the bar towards the "T" shaped board, near the screw on the right side and the bar will release). Rotate the plastic bar up and over the "T" shaped circuit board.
- Unplug the battery and remove.
- Inspect the old battery for any damage. If the battery is cut or punctured, DO NOT CHARGE. Doing so may cause an explosion. Do not use a knife or sharp object that may puncture the battery while replacing it.
NOTE: Do not touch any exposed electronic components or attempt to further disassemble the unit. Damage may occur.
Installation:
- Plug the new battery into the connector at the bottom of the T-shaped circuit board. The red wire goes on the left. The connector is polarized and can only be plugged in one way. Do not force the connector in backwards.
- Set the battery back into the battery compartment and tuck the wires along the top, but not under the battery, so that they do not extend past the height of the battery or raise the height of the battery.
- Swing the plastic bar back down over the battery and snap it back on to the right latching post.
- Align the release button of the top half of the SkyCaddie with the hole on the bottom half and connect the two halves.
- Gently press the two halves of the SkyCaddie together and replace the screws.
- Close rubber plugs on the right-side of the SkyCaddie.
Disposal: This device uses a Lithium Ion battery. Do not dispose of this battery with household waste. Contact your local waste disposal agency for instructions on proper disposal.

Q:
Why won’t my SkyCaddie charge?
Answer: If your SkyCaddie does not seem to be charging correctly, you will need to check the charging process as outlined below. If your unit will not come on after charging your unit for several hours, please see "Why won't my SkyCaddie come on?" To check the charging process:
- Turn on your SkyCaddie.
- Select and open a course from the "SkyCourse List".
- Notice the battery strength indicator located on the right hand side. The strength is indicated by a series of bars that appears vertically (similar to a cell phone). A full charge is represented by one thin bar followed by four bold bars.
- Plug the AC wall charger into the charging port located on the right hand side of the SkyCaddie.
- At this point, the "battery" symbol located in the lower right hand corner will change to a "lightning bolt" when the SkyCaddie is accepting the charge.
- If the symbol does not change to a "Lightning Bolt", there may be an issue with the charger or the SkyCaddie itself. In such a case, please contact our technical support.
- If the symbol does change, but the battery still does not seem to hold a charge, you may need to replace the internal battery. Click here for information on replacing the battery. If you are unsure, please contact our technical support.
