SkyCaddie Firewall Help



Allow "SkyCaddieDesktop.exe"

Setup your firewall to allow the "SkyCaddieDesktop.exe" application to access both "www.skygolf.com" and "www.skygolfgps.com".

Any firewall you are currently running may need to be configured before your SkyCaddie can communicate with our website.

After setting up your firewall correctly , please select a destination:

What firewalls do I have?

Your firewalls should be displayed as an icon in the tray bar on the bottom right of your screen.

Typically, your firewall will have an icon in the bottom right of your screen. *You may have more than one. For a list of common firewalls and their icons, click here.

SkyCaddie Desktop Firewall Tool:

You may be able to determine your firewalls through the "SkyCaddie Desktop":

  1. Select "Tools" from the SkyCaddie Desktop main menu.
  2. Click "Scan for firewalls".
  3. A list of your installed firewalls will appear. *This may not be a complete list.
  4. For help with common firewalls, click here.

Business Computer Users :

If you are using your computer in a business environment, please contact your systems administrator regarding firewall settings.

Setup For Common Firewalls

If your firewall is not listed, please contact the firewall vendor for more information.

If you see these icons at the bottom right of your screen, follow the directions given:

McAfee

McAfee Personal Firewall

  1. Right-click the "McAfee" icon in the Tool Tray on the lower right-hand side of the screen and select "Open".
  2. Point to “Personal Firewall” and click on “Internet Application List”.
  3. In the “Permissions list", right click the permission level for the "SkyCaddieDesktop.exe".
  4. Choose “Allow Full Access”.

McAfee Security Center

  1. Right-click the "McAfee" icon in the Tool Tray on the lower right-hand side of the screen and select "Open".
  2. Select "Internet and Network Options" on the left.
  3. Click "Configure" button on the right.
  4. Click "Firewall Protection Is Enabled" link.
  5. Select "Advanced".
  6. Select "Program Permissions" from the list on the left.
  7. Select "SkyCaddieDesktop.exe"
  8. Select "Grant Full Access" in the lower right hand window.

McAfee Firewall    Norton Firewall

Norton Internet Security 2005-2006

  1. Right-click on the “Norton Internet Security” icon in the Tool Tray on the lower right-hand side of the screen and select "Open".
  2. Double-click on “Personal Firewall” from the list.
  3. Click the “Configure” button on the right hand side of the window.
  4. Select the "Programs" tab.
  5. Under the “Manual Program Control”, select "SkyCaddieDesktop.exe" from the list.
  6. Select the “Modify” Button.
  7. Under “What do you want to do?” Select “Permit” from the drop down list.
  8. Click "OK".

Norton Internet Security 2007

  1. Right-click on the “Norton Protection Center” icon in the Tool Tray on the lower right-hand side of the screen and select "Open".
  2. Select "Norton Internet Security" tab at the top.
  3. Select "Settings"
  4. Select "Personal Firewall" from the "Web Browsing" list.
  5. Click the “Configure” button.
  6. Select "Program Control" from the list on the left.
  7. Select "SkyCaddieDesktop.exe" from the application list.
  8. Choose "Allow” from the drop-down list.
  9. Click "OK".

XP Firewall

Windows XP Firewall

Windows may have enabled the Windows XP personal firewall. To check for this:

  1. Click "Start" in the lower left hand corner of your desktop.
  2. Click "Control Panel".
  3. Double-click "Security Center ".
  4. Click "Windows Firewall" on the very bottom of the page.
  5. Select the "Exceptions" tab.
  6. Click on the "Add Program" button.
  7. Select "SkyCaddieDesktop.exe" from the list.
  8. Click the "OK" button.
  9. Close all windows and restart the computer.
